Step-Dimming
Before low-cost, dimmable electronic ballasts became widely available, the most commonly used method for controlling the light output from fluorescent lamps was step-dimming. Unlike HYTRONIK's dimmable ballasts whose output can be varied continuously, HYTRONIK's step-dimming ballasts produce only a limited number of light levels, typically 100, 75, 50, 25, 10 and 5 percent.
There is a new HYTRONIK approach to step dimming that makes use of the existing powerlines to transmit the dimming control signal from controllers to the connected ballasts. Use of the existing power lines reduces the installation costs in retrofit projects. The new generation of HYTRONIK step-dimmable ballast also accepts signals from a wide range of sources, including switches, photocells, occupancy sensors, and central energy management systems.
HYTRONIK's step-dimming electronic ballasts are ideal for use in lighting retrofit applications that do not require full-range dimming. They can also be used with a central energy management system to reduce expensive peak-load costs during periods of high electrical demand.
All HYTRONIK's step-dimming electronic ballasts are designed to work perfectly together with HYTRONIK Doppler motion sensors but can also work perfectly with infrared sensors, daylight sensors, sound sensors and ordinairy switches, which give out 220-240 Volt continuous output signal. Upon receiving the signal, the ballast works on full power; when the signal pass out, the ballast works on stand-by mode, at low light output and power consumption.
It takes 0.5 second for the ballast to shift from stand-by brightness to full power and 3 seconds from full power to stand-by brightness. This soft transition is friendly and comfortable to human eyes.
The ballast compensates the filament current when the tubes are working on stand-by dimming mode, this devices has secured the tube immeidately reaching its max. brightness on receiving of the motion signal, as well as the life span of tubes no matter the tube works constantly in dimming status, or frequently shifted between full power and dimming status.
The stand-by light output and power consumption can be pre-set by choosing the desired combination of the encoded programmed switch.
HYTRONIK's step-dimming electronic ballasts can in large a triple fase installations controlled by several HYTRONIK Doppler motion sensors but all HYTRONIK Doppler motion sensors must connected to the same fase: L1.
